Waynetown -- Elmer Haas, 79, retired farmer, died at 12:15 A.M. Friday in the Small Rest Home. He had been ill since Nov 20 and was in Culver Hospital for 31 days prior to entering the rest home. He was born Dec 7, 1883, at Newtown son of Luther and Emma Quiggle Haas. He married Ruth Ellis Mitchell Feb 22, 1905 at Mellott. She died 1953. Haas lived most of his life in Fountain and Montgomery counties. He was educated in Fountain and was a member of the Mellott Congregational Christian Church. Survivors include a son, Austin Haas, a daughter, Mrs. Hildred Smith of near Waynetown; two grandchildren, Barbara Haas Harwood and Larry Smith of Indianapolis; two great grandsons, 3 half-brothers, Walter Haas, Roy Haas and Russell Haas of Veedersburg. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Servies Funeral Home, Waynetown. Rev Don Cutts, pastor of the Mellott Church will officiate. Burial will be in Wayneotwn Masonic Cemetery.
